HSBC FEI Eventing World Cup

This is a global eventing competition with qualifying events held throughout the eventing world. In the history of the Eventing World Cup it has been won by only 4 horse and rider combinations since 2003. They are

2003 Linda Algotsson SWE Stand by me
2004 Linda Algotsson SWE Stand by me
2005 Clayton Fredericks AUS Ben Along Time
2006 Nicholas Touzaint FRA Galan de Sauvagere
2007 Nicholas Touzaint FRA Galan de Sauvagere
2008 Clayton Fredericks AUS Ben Along Time
2009 Michael Jung GER La Biosthetique Sam

In 2010 there will be 15 qualifying events throughout the world with the final to be held in Pau France.

I will be lucky enough to be Assistant Technical Delegate at the first 2010 Qualifier in Tallahassee Florida USA. I will back that up with a role at the Sydney Qualifier in May.

The Red Hills Horse Trials is making a comeback after missing last year due to financial difficulties brought about by the World Economic Crisis. Thankfully it will be returning bigger and better this year.

Only 30 more sleeps

I am very excited, the FEI have finally confirmed that I have been promoted to FEI Candidate Technical Delegate. This will make my trip to Tallahassee fully official. I am going to the USA as part of the FEI Global Education Program for Eventing Officials.

This year there were fifty places offered worldwide for the program and there were five successful applicants in Australia including myself. The Red Hills Horse Trials is one of America's most prestigious events and takes place in Tallahassee, which is the state capital of Florida. This event is also the first of this years HSBS World Cup of Eventing Series and one of two qualifying events in the USA in 2010.

I will be in Tallahassee for 9 nights and am looking forward to the "Southern" hospitality which I have been assured is some of the best in the world. I will then jet off to Lexington Kentucky to spend 3 nights with my mate Joe Carr and will get to see some of the preparations for the Rolex Lexington Event and the World Equestrian Games (WEG) 2010, both of which are being held at Kentucky Horse Park.
